The room we were given was very large and could easily accomodate the third bed we requested. The room also included two bathrooms (1 with bath&shower) which was very convenient. Service in the hotel was excellent, only drawback was the hotel pool that was closed because of winter season although outside temperature was 28C

The executive room was very small but the executive suite was excellent, and the staff was very polite, friendly and their service was good. The service at the chinese restaurant was ok, but we had to wait for a very long time for the food to be served

We stayed at Dong Fang for 3 nights in Nov. 2006 and the experience was better than expected (we were a little hesitant about staying at this hotel since we heard that it's one of the older hotel in the city). The staff speaks English, Mandarin and Cantonese and are helpful and very efficient. We stayed on the 4th floor at Building 2 (the building right above the lobby reception area). Our room has been recently renovated, it's big, clean with a comfortable king size bed and the bathroom is clean and modern. One of my worry is that the room may smell because of old drapes or carpet (it doesn't at all). The hotel has a Chinese garden in the middle of the hotel that is quite pretty. We had dim sum the first morning at one of the restaurants on the 8th floor (building 2). It has good service and the food is good with reasonable prices (RMB 170 for 4 people), however, it doesn't have a separte smoking section. There's also a small travel agency at the hotel that allows you to purchase direct train or bus ticket to take you to Hong Kong or sign up for 1-day tour of the city.
